EMS 1988 Colloquium
The Edinburgh Mathematical Society held the St Andrews Colloquium in St Andrews from 13 to 20 July 1988.

(b) Professor Samuel J Patterson (Göttingen).
(c) Professor Stephen Smale (Berkeley).
(d) Professor Albert Baernstein (Washington).
Single lectures were delivered by:
(e) Professor John M Howie (St Andrews).
(f) Professor Brian D Sleeman (Dundee).
(e) Professor Henryk Minc (California, Santa Barbara).
(f) David Easdown (Sydney).
There were seminars in algebra, geometry, number theory and analysis.

There were 73 participants at the 1988 St Andrews Colloquium.

The department hosted the Edinburgh Mathematical Society St Andrews Colloquium from 13-20 July, 1988 with Drs J K Langley and J J O'Connor serving as colloquium secretaries. Principal speakers were Professor S Smale (Berkeley), Professor S J Patterson (Göttingen) and Dr J B MacLeod (Oxford); Professor A Baernstein (Washington University, St Louis) presented the second series of Copson Memorial Lectures. This international event attracted 65 participants and St Andrews will again be host in 1992.
